ANATOMY

Message from HoD

The Anatomy is the oldest scientific discipline of medicine and remains the Gateway of surgery and Queen of medicine. The percepts of cerebration forms the basis of the practice of medicine. The ability of a doctor to interpret a clinical observation / image correctly is therefore, the endpoint of a sound anatomical understanding.

Since the establishment of Army Medical College the Anatomy Department is teaching its disciplines to the undergraduates of MBBS (1977), to BDS (1998) postgraduates of FCPS and MPhil and to the paramedics of BSC Nursing as per PMC & HEC Criteria.

Our mission is to nurture competent and compassionate future medical doctors, dental surgeons to serve at National and International level.

It encourages the students to actively participate in small group discussion, CBL sessions and dissection of cadavers. Postgraduate training & research programmes are carried out under vigilant supervision and in coordination with other departments. Moreover, it facilitates postgraduate research programmes and serves as a platform for NUMS and CPSP postgraduate researchers to get their research work published in reputed national and international journals.

About the Course

Anatomy course consists of Microscopic Anatomy, Developmental Anatomy, Radiological Anatomy, Cross-sectional Anatomy, Surface Anatomy & Gross Anatomy. Practical experience will be gained by going over dissected parts and systems of the human body with the help of models, specimens, 3D computer simulations and histology slides.
The subject of Anatomy is integrated with the subjects of Physiology & Biochemistry in order to present a holistic view of the structure & function of major organ systems of the body. At the end of every topic, a special emphasis will be laid on functional aspects & clinical anatomy.
PBL highlights student's ability to analyze complex anatomy problems. The interaction of Anatomy with clinical subjects is emphasized. The student's understanding of normal Anatomical structure & function is enhanced by presentations of clinical cases & case-based learning.
